Fanny Blankers-Koen: The Flying Housewife

The mandatory annual post, on one of the greatest athletes ever.

Fanny Blankers-Koen was 18 years old when she participated in the 1936 Olympic Games.
Her only achievement then was to somehow manage the autograph of Jesse Owens.

When the Olympics resumed after a 12 year break, she had 6 track and field world records beside her name.
She was married by then, to her coach Jan Blankers, and they had 2 children.
She was not the favorite because of her age.

She entered 4 events and won all of them. If she had entered the long jump, she probably would have won that too, because the winning jump was 22 inches shorter than Fanny's world record jump.
