Daryll Cullinan: Much more than the visit to the couch

Yes, Shane Warne did befuddle him, ultimately sending him to the psychoanalyst’s couch. But Daryll Cullunan was a superb batsman who remained the mainstay of South African batting for much of the 1990s.


Perhaps the promise of becoming the new Graeme Pollock, that many people saw in the schoolboy Cullinan, was not fulfilled. But he did manage to break the legend’s South African record for highest individual score. And four and a half thousand Test runs at 44.21 was quite impressive, especially given that he played most of his cricket in the 1990s.
