On his day, Michael Slater could be a devastating and destructive batsman. And there were quite a few such days, when he ended up kissing the helmet ... his signature celebration on reaching a hundred. He did so 14 times in Test cricket, forging a superb partnership at the top with Mark Taylor, and a lesser but still impressive association with Matthew Hayden. Only Hayden and Langer have made put on more runs for the first wicket than the Taylor-Slater duo.
