November 27, 1978. The first Day Night One-Day International (ODI) was played at Sydney Cricket Ground.  The contestants were West Indies and Australia. Almost exactly a year earlier, the ground had hosted the first Day Night match, during Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket.
